A Twilight Travel Guide to Forks, Washington

There is one of these signs on the north and south side of town on Highway 101 as you drive into Forks. Make sure to pull off the road safely if you want to get out and take a picture!

Bella’s truck is located outside of the Forks Visitor Center, on the South side of town. Photos are encouraged! This is a 1956 Chevy truck that was painted red by one of the town’s residents. This is not the same truck that was used in the movie.

Kim and David McIrvin volunteered their home to be the “official” home of Bella and Charlie Swan because it is one of the few in Forks with a second story. They have placed a sign outside of their home saying “Home of the Swans” for tourists. The McIrvin’s home is a private residence, so please respect the homeowners and do not trespass. You may take pictures outside next to the sign, but the house is not open to the public. The home coincidentally has a room that is painted blue and there are yellow cupboards just like in the Twilight series!

The town has designated the Miller Tree Bed & Breakfast as the “official” house of the Cullen Family. The proprietors have a white board on the porch on which Esme writes what the Cullen family is up to on that particular day. Photos ok, please do not disturb the guests.

The Forks Police Department just may have a couple Police cruisers around the side or back that you can take pictures of. Please do not sit ON the police car or you may be arrested! Instead, make nice with the Chief of Police, Mike Powell (Charlie’s stand-in). He is happy to greet visitors and he may even sign an autograph for you!

Forks High School is where Bella first met Edward. The high school is not open to visitors, with the exception of the Bella’s Birthday Celebration in September. Please do not disturb the students or go into the buildings while school is in session. You may take pictures out front. If you’re interested in purchasing a Forks High School Spartans tee shirt, go into the Administration Building on the North side of campus and inquire in the first office on your right.

Forks Outfitters is where Bella worked part-time. In the Twilight Books, it is owned by Mike Newton’s parents. In real life, it is attached to the local Thriftway store, where you can get some great Twilight stuff — they have affordable tee shirts, hats and mugs!

Forks Hospital is even participating in the Twilight craze! If you drive around back you will see this sign. You are welcome to take pictures of it. Please do not go into the hospital, unless you have a medical condition or emergency!

Highway 110 is on the very North side of Forks. Take it all the way to the end, and follow the double yellow line around a curve to where the road splits left and right. Turn left and go all the way around the curve to the back of the school. Across from the school (beach side), you will see a little path that looks like the picture, below. Follow it for about 50 feet and you will find First Beach and the driftwood logs where Jacob first told Bella what Edward was!

Second Beach is also amazing and lets you hike through the forest where the wolves have their meetings! Definitely worth it, if you are up for a 20-minute, 3/4-mile hike. Park near the sign on Highway 110 where it says Second Beach and follow the little hiker sign. About 1/3 of the way through the forest, you will start descending about 100 built-in stairs. Keep in mind you’re going to have to come back up these stairs on the way back! Wear comfortable gym or hiking shoes here, as you’ll want to climb on the driftwood at Second Beach.

Bella Italia is the restaurant where Bella and Edward had their “official” first date. If you’re a true Twilight fan, you’ll order the Mushroom Ravioli–the same dish Bella ordered on their date. The restaurant is a little pricey, but it has great atmosphere and is right in the center of the shopping district of Port Angeles! Don’t stay out too much after dark, though, or there may be ruffians on the street! (Just kidding, it seems pretty safe)
